Brief Biography of Howard Taylor

Presbyterian minister (Church of Scotland), recently retired ( in June 2008) as Chaplain to Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland.
This included lecturing in Philosophy of Science and Religion and also Moral and Social Philosophy
(The  Philosophy of Science and Religion module was one of the year 2001's CTNS Course Winners - $10,000 award. A further $2,000 was awarded the following year because it had been constantly updated.) 
[CTNS (Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences, based in Berkeley - Univcrsity of California) is funded by the Templeton Foundation and awards annual prizes for good courses in Science and Religion.]

Also he is still visiting lecturer at Glasgow's International Christian College, (ICC) - teaching: The Christian Faith and Contempory Thought; Ethics in Crisis and also Christianity and Modern Science also he taught in 2008 at the Faith Mission Bible College, Edinburgh where he ran a class considering Ethics in Crisis, which is the same course that he teaches at ICC.  He sometimes taught 'Western Religion, Philosophy and Science' at a university in Shanghai, China. He was a joint tutor in 'The Philosphy of Science and Theology' in Edinburgh University's Office of Life Long Learning.

Former convenor of the Church of Scotland's Apologetics Committee.

Author, and joint author of several small books/booklets.

Previously minister at St David's Knightswood Parish Church, Glasgow
and before that minister of Innellan & Toward Churches in Argyll

His ministry began in Malawi, Africa
where he was ordained and then served for ten years as a minister of African Congregations as well as a Theological and African language teacher (Chichewa).

Earlier he had taught Maths at a University College in Malawi.

His degrees are from Nottingham, Edinburgh and Aberdeen Universities.

He is married to Eleanor who herself, before they met, was a missionary teacher in Malawi.
They have three grown-up sons:
Douglas married to Amelia; Keith - married to Nina; and Ian divorced - from Katherine;
and seven grandchildren: Ruth (daughter of Douglas and Amelia), Angelo, Stephen, Isabelle, with Joseph, (children of Keith and Nina), and Anna with Samuel - children of Ian and his former wife - Katherine.


A reasonable and relevant faith that makes sense of, and gives hope for, our beautiful but troubled modern world.
